Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) honored local physician and TRMC Foundation chairman John Dorminy, M.D. and saluted employees at the hospital’s annual banquet held on Oct. 26 at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center. TRMC presented Dorminy with the John B. Prince, III Distinguished Service Award for his more t…han 35 years of service as an obstetrician/gynecologist with Tifton Woman’s Center and the hospital’s medical staff. Dorminy has also been an active member of the TRMC Foundation since 1975 and its leader since 1996. In addition to health care, Dorminy is involved in various ventures that include horse breeding and farming for peanuts, cotton and corn. Named after the chairman of the Tift County Hospital Authority, the John B. Prince, III Distinguished Service Award recognizes a longstanding associate of TRMC who is also an established leader in the community, using their influence to enhance the mission of the hospital. “Dr. Dorminy is our foundation’s biggest contributor and fundraiser,” said Prince. “Thanks to a generous donation in 2000, the hospital’s women’s pavilion is named after Dr. Dorminy’s mother, Elene. He is a visionary with dynamic ideas, giving countless hours of his time and resources.”
